ON DISARMAMENT.

Views of Britain and Italy in

Accord.

SIR JOHN SIMON IN ROME.

ROME, January 4,

The British Foreign Secretary, Sir John Simon, and the Ambassador to Rome, Sir Eric Drummond, have had conversations on the European situation with the Italian Prime Minister, Signor Mussolini, at the Palazzo Veuezia. Sir John says he is highly satisfied with the excellent work accomplished in tho conversations. The views of Britain and Italy coincided on the more important matters, especially in regard to disarmament. It is understood that no decisions were reached, but the two viewpoints were clarified. Proposals for revising the League of Nations are to be discussed to-day. The Italian view is that the Covenant of the League should be freed from the fetters of the Peace Treaty.
