AFTER EIGHT YEARS.
ARRESTED ON WARRANT.
LIVED UNDER OWN NAME.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) GISBORNE, this day.
To escape the clutches of the law for nearly eight years without having made any special efforts to avoid arrest was the experience of a young man who appeared in Court yesterday. He was arrested on a warrant issued in April, 1920, on a charge of attempting to leave New Zealand yithout having made adequate provision for the maintenance of his wife and children and without the permission of a magistrate. Detective McLeod stated that the warrant had been issued eight years ago. Accused had been going under his own name and had been in regular employment. He had made no attempt to hide his identity. Accused was remanded to appear at Wellington on Tuesday, his name being suppressed in the meantime.
