The Greymouth Trotting Club's meet- j ing was opened to-day. Light rain fell j from the third race onward, and the 1 track became slightly heavy. 'Ihere was ] a good attendance, and the totalisator . handled a total of £7079, against £8239 1 on the first day last year, when the , one betting pool system operated. Esther, winner of the Express Handicap, paid a dividend of over one-third of a century and double-figure dividends were returned by Bingen Palm, Lena Thorpe and , Garry Thorpe.
