HOME-MADE 'PLANE.

FLIGHT AT WHENUAPAI

ENGINEER'S HOBBY,

A flight .in a. home-made aeroplane was made this morning at Whenuapai, near Hobsonville, to Mangere aerodrome by Mr. A. F. McGruer. The machine was built in spare time by Mr. F. A. North, ground engineer at the Mangere aerodrome, assisted by his brother and others. At the recent Aero Club display the machine was on view at the Farmers' Trading Company's premises in Hobson Street. The machine is of. the single-seater type with . a 20-foot wing span, and has a 45 horsepower Szeckley engine. The machine was got ready this morning, on Mr. G. Anderson's farm at Whenuapai, and after a short trial flight the main testing flight was carried out.
