SAVED BY BUCKETS.

SHOP AND POST OFFICE.

COUNTRY FIRE OUTBREAK. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HUNTLY, this day. Fire broke out last night at about 5.45 p.m. in the combined confectioner's shop and post office at Rotowaro, occupied by Miss Mabel Spence. A volunteer bucket brigad-e made a fine save. The fire commenced in the confectionery shop and the greater part of the stock was a total loss. The fixtures and documents in the post office were saved, but a number of letters were slightly scorched. The stock of the confectionery shop was covered by the Commercial Insurance Office, but the amount is not available. A large grocery store attached, and occupied by Mr. George Jack, was slightly damaged.
