WOMAN'S COLLAPSE.
DEATH IN SURGERY.
REMOVAL OF TOENAIL,

rUKEKOHE, Wednesday
Tho death occurred at Pukekohe this afternoon of a young married woman, Annie Mary Josephine Sorby, aged 27 years, of Glen Murray, while undergoing an operation at the residence of Dr. H. Stewart Douglas. An inquest was opened before the district coroner, Mr. C. Jv. Lawrie, and after evidence of identification had been given by the husband, Kenneth Malan Sorby, it was adjourned sine die, the coroner ordering a post-mortem.
Mr. Sorby stated that his wife was in perfect health, but had been troubled by an ingrown toenail. He visited Dr. Douglas with his wife,- who decided that it would be better to have the nail removed. Witness consented to the us© of an anaesthetic, and after a thorough examination had been made of his wife all anaesthetic was administered. He was waiting in the consulting room. Shortly afterwards Dr. Douglas came out and said that something serious had happened, and telephoned for Dr. A. T. Be"", who arrived shortly afterwards. A few minutes later Dr. Begg came out and informed witness that his wife was dead. Mrs. Sorby leaves two children, aged four years and three months respectively.
