CUSTOMS DUTIES.
INCREASE AT CHRISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHUTtCH, Tuesday. The revenue from Customs duties at Christchurch during 1933 showed a considerable increase on that for 1932. Figures for the respective years are as follows: — Customs: 1933, £831,178; 1932, £719,959. Tyre dutv: £8392; £8962. Motor spirit tax: £209,592; £194,945. Beer duty: £80,395; £82,444. Sales tax: £190,215; nil. For the first nine months of the financial year the comparative figures are as follows, the current year's totals being given first:—Customs: £561,752; £533,915. Beer dutv: £62,921; £63,188. Motor spirit tax: £152.8-03: £142,318. Tyre duty: £6567; £6479. Sale tax: £102,796; nil.
