HIDES MARKETS
Messrs. A. H. Turnbull and Co., Ltd., report:—We received the following extract from Messrs. W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., dated London, November 23:—"The whole of the outlook for hide* is bound up with, world affairs, and this will be largely domineered by the U.S.A. position. We cannot help thinking that there is a slightly better market in evidence at the moment, which will in turn bring results. We are actually registering at this moment slightly better prices for our frigorifico hides, but we have not yet felt that this will go on, although storks of hides have been reduced to very negligible quantities in the packer market in the U.S.A. Further buying on a steady scale should assist the market to no small extent, and by the end of the year we may be really able to report a very firm position." j
