SHIPPING NEWS.

WHARVES WORKING. NORTHUMBERLAND LOADING. There is only one overseas ship in port to-day, but work is proceeding as usual after the holidays. There are several coastal vessels and others for southern ports being worked, but the waterfront generally looks empty. During the next few days, however, there will be an increase in the number of large vessels berthed. Northumberland arrived on Saturday afternoon from New Plymouth to continue loading for England. She is at the Queen's wharf, and sails for Ginborn e and Napier on Saturday for final loading, leaving the latter port on January 15 for London, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool. (N.Z.S.) Canonesa left yesterday morning for London after loading at Wellington, Picton, Opvia and Auckland. She is voyaging via Cape Horn. (S.S. and A.) Nordanvik arrived with bulk petrol from Baiik Pa pail on Sunday morning, and left for Wellington yesterday morning after discharging the local portion of her cargo. (Shell Oil.) Wanganella is due on Friday from Sydney, and sails at 11 a.m. the following day on the return trip. (H.P.)
