A NOVEL IDEA. (By Gladys Kappoly, Te Xjju« Road, Itotoruii : 17.) A novel use for old motor tyres is to make little flower beds. Where garden space is scarce, or for the centre of a tiny lawn, these make attractive beds. Place the tyre where desired and fill with earth and plant violets, violas, pansies. free/.ias, nemosias, phlox. Iceland poppy or any short-growing plants Unit make u delightful display! When transplanting any tree which bears a cone, wait until the older ones of the .same kind have" their new cones on before hiihy trow. Young trees shifted at thi« time will thrive, as they do not when transplanted before the appearance of the new come.
