WELLINGTON TOO GOOD. WINS SHIELD AND CASKET. ANGAS TOO GOOD FOR MALFROY. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHEISTCHURCH, Friday. Wellington narrowly retained the Wilding Shield for the provincial lawn tennis supremacy of New Zealand by beating Canterbury to-day by 6 rubbers 15 eets, to 6 rubbers 14 sets. To-day'e play resulted:— Singles.—Angas (Canterbury, 1029 and 1931 New Zealand champion) beat Malfroy (Wellington), 10—8, 6—4; Ferkins (Wellington) beat Bai-nett (Canterbury), 6—2, 6—4; Dymond (Canterbury) beat Roussell (Wellington), 6—3, 2—6, 6—4; Howe (Wellington) beat Robinson (Canterbury), 6—3, 6—2. Doubles. —Angas and Barnett (Canterbury) beat Malfroy and Ferkins (Wellington), 11—9, 11 —6, B—6; Dymond and Robineon (Canterbury) beat Roussell and Howe (Wellington), β-l, S*-7. The Nunneley Casket contest between Wellington and Canterbury was also narrowly won by Wellington. Liko the shield contest the margin of victory was a single set, the rubbers being equal. Results:— Singles.—Mrs. Dykes (Wellington) beat Miss T. Poole (Canterbury), 6—3, 6—2; Mies NicholLs (Wellington) beat Miss Wake (Canterbury), 6-4, 6—2; Miss I. Poole (Canterbury) beat Miss Whyte (Wellington), 6—4, B—6; Miss Rudkin (Canterbury) beat Miss Whiskei- (Wellington), 9—7, 6—3. Doubles. —Mrs. Dykes and Mies Nicholls (Wellington) beat Misses I. and T. Poole (Canterbury), 6—2, 7—5; Misses Wake and Rudkin (Canterbury) beat Misses Whyte and Whisker (Wellington), 4—6, B—6, 7—5.
