YETERANS DEFEAT COLTS.

At the Domain yesterday the city and suburban colts played a special match with the veterans, who won after an exciting 3tage at the finish.

Veterans won the toss and put their opponents in to bat. Colts made Hβ runs (V. C. Butler 37, F. Wood 17, L. K. Heazlewood 22, J. Everson 15). Bowling: A. Kerr took six wickets for 14 runs, E. Stallworthy three Tor 22. Veterans replied with 118 (T. Marshall 45. E. Stallworthy 26, carrying the total from 73 to 118 runs). Heazlewood took three wickets for 38 and Butter two Tor 18. Colts declared with five wickets for 74 runs, giving the Veterans about three-quarters of an hour in which to make them. The challenge was accepted and 78 runs were hoisted in free style for four wickets, much to the pleasure of spectators. The Veterans won by six wickets and three runs. Messrs. J. Ball and Abbott were umpires.
