BIG DOMINION PROGRAMME.
MINERVAL WINS AUCKLAND CUP.
G.N. FOAL STAKES TO MOTHER SUPERIOR.
JONATHAN AND UNITED SHARE HANDICAP.
Though the weather has been unsettled, it is fine for the opening of the Auckland Racing Club's summer carnival at Ellerslie, and there is a splendid attendance. The course is in capital order. There are five other race meetings in progress—Taranaki, Manawatu. Waipakurau, Dunedin and Westland. Four trotting meetings are also being run off this afternoon— Wairarapa, Ashburton, Gore and Westport. At Ellerslie, Epigram scored from Sea Fox and Kiltowyn in the Queen's Plate. The Great Northern Foal Stakes resulted in victory for Mother Superior over Brown Betty and Gay Blonde. Jonathan and United shared the honours in the Robinson Handicap. Minerval was first past the judge in the Auckland Cup, King's Knave and Speedmint filling the minor places.
