REVOLVER BATTLE.

Police Kill Three Escaped

Convicts.

GANGSTERS FIGHT TO DEATH,

CHICAGO, December 22,

In a desperate revolver battle tonight the police killed three leaders of the gang of escaped Indiana convicts who have been responsible for many recent crimes here, including the murder of a policeman.

After locating the criminals' hiding place Detective-Captain John Stege surrounded the apartment building.

At an arranged signal 20 heavilyarmed men dashed into the building. They were met by fire from shotguns. The lights were immediately extinguished.

For over a minute the police continued firing blindly. The criminals returned the fire until they were killed.
