BARE QUORUM.

PARLIAMENT RISES.

LEADERS REVIEW SESSION. «A RECORD FOR OUTPUT." (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Friday. Both branches of the Legislature met to-day for purely formal proceedings necessary for tlie completion of th© session. The House representatives was reduced to a bare quorum. In a valedictory speech the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes, suggested that in activity and the amount of solid work the session's results would compare favourably with that of any institution or business in the country. There had been 52 public bills and 19 local bills passed. In no session had such good feeling been displayed, despite the many matters involving great differences of opinion. The bulk of the work liac" fallen on the Minister of Finance, who came through a heavy ordeal displaying patience and good temper. | Mr. P. Fraser, speaking for the Leader of the Opposition, reciprocated the good wishes. He described the session as a record for output, coming up to modern standards of production, though it was not the occasion to deal with its quality. He had never seen, in 15 years' experience, so much done as was done in the last three weeks. Thg Task Ahead. The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates declared that indications were unquestionably better for the New Year, but whatever satisfaction was felt over trade, 110 efforts should be relaxed until all citizens were at work. The Speaker, Sir Charles Statham, who was congratulated on his patience and fairness in the chair, said although members fought strenuously there was a friendly feeling, not inconsistent with the assertion of their rights. Only 2-1 members voted on the final division for the adjournment, which was not carried, though Mr. Speaker, appreciating the time-honoured joke, left the chair. List of Bills Passed.
