SHIPPING NEWS.

CORNWALL ARRIVES. PASSENGER SHIPS DUE. Apart from work on passenger liners and the Cornwall, a holiday will be observed 011 Monday and Tuesday on the waterfront. One ship is due from Sydney 011 Christmas Day and one from Vancouver 011 Boxing Day. Cornwall arrived in stream at about 1.30 p.m. to-day, and later berthed at the Queen's wharf. She will commence discharge 011 Tuesday of her cargo from Glasgow and Liverpool, and sails next week for Wellington, Lyttclton, Duncdiu and Bluff to complete. Thereafter she commences loading for England. (N.Z.S.) Varanger arrived this morning from Wellington to complete discharge of her cargo of bulk petrol from l'alembang, Dutch East Indies. She is berthed at the Western wharf, and will be dispatched for Sail Francisco to-morrow morning. (Gilmore Oil.) Monowai is due 011 Monday afternoon from Sydney, and berths at the Queen's wharf 011 arrival. After her cruise to the North she returns next Saturday morning, and sails at 2 p.m. the same day for Sydney and Melbourne. (U.S.S.) Aorangi left Suva at 2.30 a.m. to-day for Auckland, and is due here at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, to berth at the Prince's wharf. She is to sail at 5 p.m. the same day for Sydney. (U.S.S.) Golden Eagle is due 011 Wednesday morning from Vancouver and San Francisco with cargo for Auckland, Wellington and Australia. She is to berth at the Queen's wharf. (H. and M.) Baroona returned from her trip to Norfolk Island this morning, and is berthed at the Central wharf. The converted trawler had a fair weather passage to Norfolk, and left there 011 Wednesday shortly after noon, in heavy north-easterly weather. I A visit to Gannet Rock "will be made by the steamer Duchess after she leaves Auckland for Matiatia at 10 o'clock on j Christmas morning.
