TRAMWAY FARES.
The manager of the tramways says in his, report that the fares per mile in Auckland compare very favourably with all the main Dominion centres. That is not much consolation, seeing Auckland fares are the highest. The concession fares for the four centres are: Christchurch .83d, Dunedin l.Old, Wellington 1.02 d, and Auckland 1.17 d per 100 chains. One would naturally expect that Auckland, with the largest population, would have the best opportunity of having the lowest fares. The Railway Department seems to have no regrets at reducing their fares. FAIR FARES.
