BIG AIR RACE.
Mollison to Enter, and Possibly His Wife. PINAL TERMS ANNOUNCED. LONDON," December 21. Mr. J. A. Mollison has decided to enter for the air race from London to Mel- , bourne, on the occasion of the latter city's centenary next year. Mrs. Mollison may be co-pilot with her husband, ; but such an arrangement will depend upon her health. The final conditions for participation in the race are announced from Melbourne. It will be of an international character and not limited to competitors and machines from within the Empire. The first machine to cross a white line drawn across Flemington racecourse collects a cheque for £10,000. The formula for the handicap race is designed to encourage commercial aviation. Success will depend on five main factors, namely:— (1) The ability of the pilot to get through. (2) The speed of the machine. (3) Luck. (4) Weather and other conditions. (5) The carriage of a pay load. October 20, 1034, is the date of starting. A deposit of £50 for the speed race and of £10 for the handicap is required, and will be forfeited if any machine fails to reach Bagdad. Any machine failing to complete the course in 10 calendar days will be disqualified. There will be checking points along the route.
