SEVEN DROWNED.
COLLISION IN FOG.
Swedish Steamer Sinks Off English Coast. SLEEPERS CAUGHT BELOW. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 2 p.m.) RUGBY, December 21. As the result of a collision in a thick fog off Spurn Head, near the estuary of the Humber, Yorkshire, between the Swedish steamer Castor and the Hull trawler Kurd, the Castor, a vessel of 569 tons, sank almost immediately, and the stewardess and six male members of the crew were drowned. The captain and six others rescued by the Kurd arrived at Hull. They say that the Castor was struck in the bows, filled rapidly and sank before they were able to rouse the sleepers. The survivors, who were left floundering in' the icy cold water, despaired of rescue as the trawler drifted away in the fog. Eventually they were saved by ropes and boathooks. A heavy fog in the Channel is delaying many ships.
