JOURNALISM PRIZES.
NEW ZEALAND CONTEST.
JUDGES' AWARDS ANNOUNCED
The results in the sixth animal competition in practical journalism, conducted by the New Zealand Journalists' Association, are announced as follow: — E. C. Marris, the "Sun," Christchurch, 1; E. Axford, the "New Zealand Herald," Auckland, 2. The conditions of the competition were altered this year with a view to requiring from competitors a full range of their journalistic work. To that end competitors were required to submit four articles, instead of one as in previous years. Mr. Marris' entries were: "Grebe 'Plane Crash," "A Beachcomber's Experience,'" "Disclosures at Shareholders' Meetings" and "Molesworth Station, the Keystone of Three Provinces." Mr. Axford's entries were: "Gold-bearing Ore," "A Night of Opera." "Strange Visitors" and "Under the Earth." The judging arrangements this year were in the hands of the Dunedin branch, of the New Zealand Journalists' Association, and the judges were Mr. Percy Bell, of the editorial staff of the "Dunedin Evening Star," and Professor G. E. Thompson, professor of modern languages, University of Otago.
