TRADE WITH CHINA.
OPENING FOR OUR GOODS. What has New Zealand to offer the Chinese? asks a writer in the "Singapore Free Press." Well, first of all, meat, longer are the Chinese basically rice ;aters. They are turning more and more ;o meat and wheat to replace a rice diet, ind the livestock for the meat has to be Imported—hence New Zealand's oppor;nnity. Then there is honey; the Chinese lave a sweet tooth. And fresh fruits and vegetables, with such manufactured goods is biscuits and confectionery, woollens and ivorsteds (the latter for China and not Malaya, of course), boots and shoes, pottery and tiles, soap, hosiery and patent medicines. And then there is the tourist trade. If the Chinese are shown New Zealand they may care to visit it as a holiday resort, than which there is none better. ... It seems to be a good idea, this trade ship to New Zealand, full up with influential Chinese from Malaya and China.
