For the position of junior assistant at the Parnell branch library 82 applications were received by the Auckland City ■Council. The libraries committee selected sixteen for interview, and at a meeting this morning, presided over by Miss E. Melville, decided to appoint Miss V. C. Plertslet, 8.A., a University student who sat for honours thi.s year. The commencing salary is £78 a year, less the 10 per cent "cut."
