INQUESTS OPENED.

Two inquests were opened by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., yesterday.

Llewellyn Apeass Walter Edwards, aged 50, a relief worker employed by the Railway Department, died in the Auckland Hospital on December 12. Some weeks ago he was struck on the head with a stone, and was attended, at the hospital, later going back to his work. On December 10 he was again admitted and died two days later. A post-mortem examination revealed that he had died from meningitis.

The body of Thomas Stuart Scott, aged 73, one of two brothers who were lost in a dinghy off Orewa Beach a fortnight ago, wae identified by his son, Norman William Scott, of Tauranga, who said that his father was a good hand with boats, but witness had never known him to be a swimmer.
