CONCERT FOR SCHOOL.
A concert in aid of the funds of the dental clinic of the school was given by the children of the Blockhouse Bay Avondale South School on Wednesday evening in the picture hall. The concert commenced with an operetta, "A Bundle of Sticks," by the senior children of the school; "King's Breakfast," a dramatised poem, by primer hoys; a sketch, "David Copperfield and the Waiter;"' and a play, "The Christmas Fairies," by the primer and intermediate standards pupils. The Christmas appeal that each play stood for was admirably staged, and. the large audience emphasised its appreciation of the various children's parts.
Mr. J. W. Bissett presided and gave statistics of the local benefits and the great humane work that the dental clinics were doing for the children, as also the low cost of their operations. The financial success of the concert places an appreciable sum towards the continuance of the dental clinic work, and this was acknowledged in the votes of thanks for the school committee hy Mr. Egerton Gill and Mr. Hunt. The thanks for the production were entirely due to Mr. Calrill, the headmaster, Miss H. Hoyle and Miss French and Mr. Vallance, assistant teachers, and to Miss Bollard and Mr. H. Knight, artists, and to Mrs. Bollard, the accompanist. An invitation was also extended to the parents and friends 'to the school swimming regatta at Blockhouse Bay next week.
