METCALFE AGAIN.
BREAKS OLYMPIC RECORD. (Received 1 p.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Jack Metcalfe, the Sydney 'Varsity athlete, in a special attempt, beat the Olympic high jump record by clearing Oft 6Jin.
He also beat his own New South Wales record by covering 32ft S|in for the standing hop-step-and-jumj>.
The Olympic record is 6ft o.Ouin, put up by H. M. Osborne (U.S.A.) at Paris' in 1924. D. McNaughton (Canada), last year's winner at Los Angeles, leaped 6ft 5 5-Bin. The world record is also held by Osborne, 6ft 83in.
