TOBACCO IN GAOL.
DANGER TO DISCIPLINE. . • (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. In the Police Court to-day Edwin Coupa Gorton was fined £2 and costs for delivering to a prisoner in Paparua gaol a parcel containing tobacco, contrary to regulations. The magistrate said lie was afraid a few cases of this nature were occurring, and in future they would be dealt with severely. Tobacco given promiscuously was a danger to discipline in prison. If tobacco were smuggled in other things nyght be smuggled in also.
