POLICE FUNERAL.

LATE CONSTABLE McINNESS. With full police ceremony, the funeral of the late Constable William Mclnness, formerly of Remuera, was held yesterday. Constable Mclnness had been in the force for 33 years and had been stationed at Remuera for the past 23 years.

A short service was conducted at the homo of the late constable at 172, Remuera Road, by the Rev. J. A. Thomson, and later a party of some 70 members of the force, representing both the detective and the uniform branches marched ahead of the hearse to Market Road. Tho police party subsequently went on by special bus to Howick, where a service was conducted in All Saints' Church by the Rev. M. D. Boyes, who also read the burial service in the Church of England cemetery. The police party included Superintendent S. Till, Inspector J. Hollis, Sub-Inspector T. Shanahan, Senior-Detective S. G. Hall, DetectiveSergeant A. G. McHugh and SeniorSergeants Flanagan and Lambert. Retired police officers present included exSuperintendent W. Eccles, ex-Chief Detective P. McMahon, and ex-Senior-Sergeant R. Lanagan. The funeral was also attended by "representatives of the Remuera fire brigade and a large number of Remuera residents.
