BENZINE FIRE.

DENTAL CLINIC MISHAP.

MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED.

WANGANUI, Thursday,

Excitement was caused at the Marton dental clinic this afternoon when benzine in a bucket in which Nurse Cochran was attending to cleaning articles ignited from a gas jet burning a few feet away. The nurse rushed for assistance, and a man who was passing tried to smother the flames with a mat, which also ignited. Another passer-by, Mr. N. Meredith, took off his coat, which he pushed into the bucket. Both his arms were immersed in the burning benzine, and he suffered severe burns extending to the elbows. After being attended to by a doctor the injured man was conveyed by ambulance to the Wanganui Hospital.

The fire was extinguished without much damage being done in the building.
