MILK CONTROL.
BILL BEFORE HOUSE. VIEWS TO BE HEARD. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. An assurance that full opportunity would be given to interested parties to present their views on the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Bill to the Agricultural and Stock Committee, to which the Bill was referred after its introduction in the House yesterday, was given by the Prime Minister, the Right Hon. G. W. Forbes.
Replying to a question asked by Mr. W. J. Jordan (Labour, Manukau), the Prime Minister said that he would give an undertaking that the Bill would go to the Agricultural and Stock Committee.
Mr. H. G. R. Mason (Labour, Auckland Suburbs) said that he did not want to create difficulties for a matter that might be urgent, but it would be far better if more expedition had been shown by the promoters.
Mr. A. J. Stallworthy (Independent, Eden) said that a number of local bodies in the Auckland metropolitan area had not had an opportunity to study the contents of the Bill. That was a serious objection to the Bill being permitted to proceed at the present time. In view of the Prime Minister's assurance, however, he had no serious objection to offer to the suspension of the Standing Orders as desired by the member in charge of the Bill (Mr. \V. P. Endean).
Mr. A. S. Richards (Labour, Roskill) in also accepting the assurance, urged tliat sufficient notice be given to the local bodies to enable them to present their cases.
The measure was introduced, and after being given a second reading pro forma, was referred to the Agricultural and Stock Committee.
