FINE DAIRY HERD.
IN QKAUIA DISTRICT. TEN COWS AVERAGE 536L8. A magnificent average of 536.191b of butterfat has been put up by ten pedigree Jersey cows owned by Mr. R. K. Garland, of Okauia, under c.o.r. test for 1932-33 season, covering 365 days. Details are as follow: —Senior two-year-olds: Tyntesfield Zoe, 0901b fat; Tyntesfield Sultane, 612.581b fat; Tyntesfield Pansy Flower, 507.601b fat; average, 603.91b fat. Junior two-year-olds: Tyntesfield Barbara, 544.241b fat; Tyntesfield Rose Marie, 488.731b fat; Tyntesfield Quicksilver, 4831b fat; average, 505.321b fat.
The above were daughters of Coniston Conqueror. Another of this bull's daughters previously tested gave 742.011b fat as a junior two-year-old, which makes a grand average for the seven tested daughters (all under two years) of 581.371b of butterfat. Three junior two-year-old heifers in the herd, daughters of Brampton Standard, You'll Do, tested as follow:—Tyntesfield 80-Peep, 520.121b fat; Tyntesfield Pixie, 501.821b fat; Tyntesfield Standard Dot, 460.121b fat: average, 4941b fat. These were the only daughters of this bull which could be tested owing to the lateness of the season. Another cow (matured) by a different sire did 558.121b fat, making a grand average over the ten cows under test for the season of 536.191b butterfat.
