FANATICAL ACT.
NADIR KHAN'S MURDER
Vengeance for Execution of Afghan General. PALACE MENIAL ARRESTED. (United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—Copyright) (Received 10.30 a.m.) CALCUTTA, November 12. Official news from Kabul says that all the provinces except distant Herathave tendered allegiance to the King. There is tranquillity throughout the country. Impressive mourning ceremonies for the late King, Nadir Khan, concluded yesterday. The opinion in New Delhi is that the assassination was not so much associated with the plot to restore Amanullah to the throne as a fanatical act to avenge Ghulman Nabi, a former Afghan general who was executed for treason.
The British Government will undoubtedly maintain the present diplomatic relationship with the new ruler.
The Afghan Consulate in Delhi yesterday received • a telegram from Kabul stating that the late King Nadir was murdered in the grounds of the palace by Abdul Khaliq, a menial, who was immediately captured and at present is on trial.
The latest telegrams received in London indicate that the situation in Afghanistan and on the North-West Frontier of India is quiet.
