BOLD EXPERIMENT.

FASCISM SUITS ITALY.

LONDON, November 2.

"Italy's bold experiment in evolving a new form of organised national, social, and economic life has not yet by any means reached its final stage, but the results already obtained and the final achievement to which they are directed, merit the closest attention of the rest of the world." So writes Mr. R. M. Turner, British Commercial Counsellor at Rome, reporting to the Overseas Trade Department on the economic conditions of Italv.

Nobody can be blind, Mr. Turner says, to the marked improvement that has recently occurred in the public services in Italy, and the magnitude of the public works that are being* carried out.

Signor Mussolini's leadership has inspired the full .trust of a great, intelligent, and hardworking people, says "The Times," in a leading article, in which it is admitted that so far Fascism has suited Italy. But emphasis is placed on the reflection that the . relative success of the experiment is no sort of reason why it should suit other countries differing from Italy geographically, economically,-- politically and in the characteristics of their individual citizens.
