TRAGIC DEATH.
Lady Hewart Collapses at Lady Mayoress' Reception. WIFE OF CHIEF JUSTICE. LONDON, November 3. Lady Hewart, wife of the Lord Chief Justice, Lord Hewart, collapsed and died when she was attending the last reception of the season given by the Lady Mayoress, Lady Greenaway, in the Mansion House.
.. More than 1000 guests—brilliantly gowned women and men in uniform and evening dress—were present at the time in the lavishly decorated Egyptian Hall. At midnight Lady Howart was sitting with a group of friends when suddenly, she fell forward. She was removed to an ante-room, where she died. The Lord Mayor, Sir Percy Greenaway, ordered the reception to be abandoned, and the bewildered guests left after tendering horrified expressions of their deepest sympathy for Lord Hewart. The Lord Chief Justice was not present and the news of his wife's death was telephoned to him at his home.
