LIVE STOCK MARKETS.

TE AWAMUTU. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, reports on its Te Awamutu stock sale held on Thursday as follows:—Sheep: The entry was a medium one, comprising all classes of fat sheep and a line of ewes with lambs at foot. ■ Everything was readily disposed of at full late market values, the ewes and lambs particularly meeting with good competition. Values were:—Prime, wethers. £1 3/ to £1 6/1; medium, 18/ to £1 2/; others to 17/6; heavy ewes, 15/ to IS/; lighter, up to 15/; very prime hoggets, £1 3/ to £1 0/; medium, 17/ to £1 2/; best lambs, £14/ to £1 7/; prime lambs, £1 1/ to £1 3/; others, up to £1; pen of sound-mouth ewes and lambs, 12/6, all counted. Cattle: More than usual numbers of iat cattle came forward, and the entry included 25 bullocks. Generally there was a better tone in the market, and although values did not improve much, the sale was a free one with very little being reserved. Six bullocks sold on account of Messrs. W. J. and 11. 11. Thompson realised £6 5/ each and were secured by Mr. J. Middlebrook and Mr. A. C. Gregory. Lees and ; Company purchased steers on account of I Mr. W. McGee up to £6 1/. There was an appreciable improvement in the cull cow section, in which a very large number was submitted. About half of a fairly heavy entry of yearling heifers changed hands, but sales were difficult. Dairy cattle were yarded in smaller numbers than the previous sale, and values showed very little alteration. Values were: —Heavy fat bullocks, £5 10/ to £6 5/; medium, £5 1/ to £5 10/: light, £4 5/ to £5; heavy fat cows and heifers, £4 5/ to £4 15/; good quality, £3 15/ to £4 2/6; medium, £2 17/6 to £3 10/: lighter, £2 7/6 to £2 15/; forward, £1 15/ to £2 5/; good stores, £1 4/ to £1 13/; others, to £1 4/; good yearling heifers, £2 15/ to £3 5/; good quality dairy cows and heifers, £5 10/ to £7; others, £4 10/ to £5 10/; potter bulls, £3 10/ to £4 10/. Pigs: There was an exceptionally large, yarding of all classes of pigs, which sold well up to Frankton late rates. There was a keen demand for stores and weaners and a total clearance was effected well up to vendors' reserves. Values were: —Breeding sows, up to £4; boars, up to £2 10/; medium baconers, £2 4/ to £2 12/; light baconers and heavy porkers. £1 18/ to £2-2/; medium, £1 13/ to £1 17/; light, £1 6/ to £1 11/; good stores, £1 7/ to £1 12/; poorer. £1 2/ to £15/; slips, 18/ to £1 1/; good weaners, 15/ to 17/6; inferior, 10/ to 13/. Although there was no sale at Matawhero last week exceptionally small yardings came forward yesterday, and as a result pi-ices generally were somewhat higher. There was a keen demand for fat sheep, values generally showing an improvement. Ewes made 13/2 to 15/4, and shorn ewes 11/3 to 12/. A good line of wethers made 16/6, and second-grade ones 11// to 12/7. Among store sheep the best price was 23/3 for a pen of ewes with lambs. Old woolly ewes sold at 11/, with poorer sorts going for 9/. Woolly hoggets made 15/10 and 16/, and shorn Southdowns 12/6. 'Other ewes, with lambs, ranged from 17/4 to 18/1. In the beef section cows made £3 to £3 5/; heifers, £3 5/, and vealers 29/. TE KUITL Dalgety and Company, Ltd.. report having held__ their usual fortnightly stock sale at Te Kuiti on Friday. There .was an average yarding of sheep which sold under keen competition. Cattle were penned in good numbers and met with a ready sale.
