AUCKLAND CLUB. Close of Road Season. —C. Hansen and C. Rafferty Winners.— K. McKenzie and A. Brass Fastest Riders. The Auckland Cycle Club concluded its road season at Tamukl this afternoon under atrocious weather conditions, heavy rain falling throughout the contests. The riders were liberally coated with silt on finishing and they presented a great sight. Good fields started nevertheless, 24 riders competing. The Juniors rnced over 5J miles and the seniors 10 miles. The junior race with eight starters resulted :— C. Hansen, 1.45, time 17.30 . i 1 G. Gates, 3.0 2 .T. McDonald, 2.45 3 K. McKenzie, 30s ...;;...:, 4 K. McKenzie (30s) registered fastesftlme in 17.5. Hansen, last week's winner, again rode splendidly to win by 17s from Gates, Who was 24s ahead of McDonald. The fourth and fastest rider, McKenzie, was only 5s behind the third man. The following seniors started: R. Stewart, S. Sargent, 4.0; G. Walters, C. Rafferty, 3.15; A. Mackrell, H. Farrer, L. Coates, D. Aitcheson, 2.45 : W. Pinker, P. Blcknell, 1.15; R. Craig, 455; S. Weller, A. Brass, W. Pratney, W. Hansen, M. Hibburt, ser. j

At the half-way mark (eight miles) Sargent, Rafferty and Stewart were the loaders, passing 1.0 ahead of Pinker, who had moved up well. Then came Mackrell and Craig 7s behind him. Close on their heels came Aitcheson, li'cknell, and Coates, with Weller, Pratney. Brass and Hansen, the scratch men setting a solid pace, now only 2.27 behind the leaders. Farrer had machine trouble. With two miles to go, Sargent and Rafferty were still out in front, going real well, being now 1.18 ahead of Pinker and Craig, the latter having moved up. The scratch men were still moving fast and were now only 2Ss behind the two latter riders and 1.40 away from .the leaders. The leaders held on for Rafferty to come away in the straight and win by two lengths from Sargent. Pinker bent Craig for third place by half a length, 53s after the winner. In the sprint for time a great finish saw Brass score by a foot from Pratney. Brass beat Craig for tijno by 10s. Result: — C. Rafferty, 3.15, time 43.57 1 S. Sargent, 3.15 2 YV. Pinker, 1.15 3 R. Craig, 45s 4 A. Brass (scr) registered fastest time in 42.10. The winners of the points cups for the season are: —Junior: K. McKenzie (aggregate), P. Bicknell (fastest time). Senior: 11. Farrer (aggregate), A. Brass (fastest time). The finish of the senior division was very close. .
