PUSSY AND THE GRAMOPHONE.
155, Grey Avenue, Auckland, C.l. Dear Wendy,— I read your letter about the influence that music holds over animals, and I would like to tell you about the great fascination music has for our cat. We have a cabinet gramophone, with a portion underneath where the records are kept, and this we always open when playing a record. As soon as the music starts, the cat will leave anything he is playing with and gradually draw nearer and nearer to the gramophone, until at last he walks into the part for the records and lies there with his head upon his paws until the playing has ceased. His conduct is most curious, because he does not show any interest when anyone of us arc singing. It is only when a record is played that he shows any interest.—Yours sincerely, Floreii.ee Ross.
