No. 13 Level.—Martha lode, south section, east of No. 4 shaft north crosscut, ine east drive was resumed and advanced ua feet, making a total of 154* feet. Assay J o£,!? ur,n S tho Period ranged from l/l'l to f7/8 per ton, no walls being seen. f , A" Level - —Royal lode west of No. 4 shaft, south-east crosscut: The west drive was advanced 65£ feet, making a total of 213J feet. Assay value is as follows:—From 148 to 1(16 feet, 27/ per finV/o 0 , 1 ?/ 6 ?,*.?,, 18 " £eet ' 14 / 9 : from 180 t« 213 feet, 42/4. The width of quartz varied from 2 to 5 feet. At 195 feet a crosscut was driven across the lode with »f,.i ~'n s results, measuring from the south wall:—From 0 to 3 feet, 2!)/ per ton south part of lode ; from 3 to 8 feet country rock; from 8 to 20 feet, 4/0 per ton. North wall here. The drive is being continued on the south part of lode. (70ft > Sub-level.—Empire lode: At 14.3 feet east of Cod west crosscut a rise was put up 42 feet in good grade ore v the quartz being about 4 feet wide. No. 11 Level.—Empire lode: The sinking pr bnapper winze was continued to 60 feet. Average assay from 15 to 55 feet is 31/2 per ton; at 60 feet the value is 6/10 P er ton. It is intended to crosscut the lode at 70 feet down to determine the width and value.

No. 10 Level!— Ulster lode: This was interested in a crosscut driven south from the Royal footwall gangway 18 feet south of the east boundary. The lode was met at 27 feet in, the first 4 feet being a mixture and the remaining 4 feet solid quartz averaging 13/6 per ton. Driving war then commenced on Its course, the first 31 feet west assaying 38/ per ton. Eastward 12 feet was driven and the assay value at this point is 27/ per ton. The width of quartz varied from 4 to 5 feet. No. 10 (52ft) Sub-level.—Empire lode, Connor block : The level has been widened and mostly timbered to 373 feet west of Rolker south crosscut.

No. 9 Love).—Empire lode, Gibbons block: Stoping in this block was stopped at 68 feet up owing to the value falling, the broken ore Is now being drawn off. Empire lode, north section: The sinking of Feather winze was continued to 93 feet. Sinking was stopped at this depth and the work will be completed by rising from the old stope underneath. No. 5 Level.—North branch of Martha lode west of Roycroft crosscut: The crosscut at 107 feet was driven a total of 30 feet north. At 14 feet a vein of quartz 12in wide was intersected assaying 23/11 per ton. The drive was then inclined north to get into touch with this vein and at 129 feet west the vein was in hand, the width at this point being 2 feet of very good grade. At 139 feet west the width iR 2 feet also of very good grade. Crosscutting south was suspended when it reached a distance of 35 feet. Martha lode: The west drive from No. 2 shaft north-west crosscut was continued to 178J feet. The crosscut acroßS the Martha lode at 90 feet west was continued diagonally to the north wall, the full width on the angle being 33 feet. Assay value was as follows:—First 23 feet 11/9 per ton; next 5 feet, 2S/ ; last 5 feet, 6/9. Samples from the drive during the period ranged from 4/1 to 14/ per ton. JUNCTION AREA. ."function No. 10 level.—Empire lode, No. 9 pass blrrck: Breaking of ore is now at 51 feet up. Junction No. 9 (40ft) Sub-level.—Empire lode: The drive east of No. 7 pass was continued from 39 to 106 feet. The west drive was advanced 5 feet, making a total of 34 feet. Junction No. 9 Level.—ftate reef, north part: In the intermediate level at 67 feet up fhe level has been widened to 10 feet west of Kemp rise, and the roof heightened for n total length of 65J feet. The block is now timbered and shrinkage sloping will be commenced immediately. Waihi Co.'s No. 11 Level.—Dominion lode, intermediate level from Putan rise at SO feet up: The roof of level has been heightened from 46 to 106 feet west and stoping timbers are being placed in position. Junction No. 6 Level.—Royal south-east prospecting crosscut: This was advanced 92 feet, making the total length 162 feet. Two leaders each one inch wide were intersected at 137 and 143 fept respectively; both have a south-east dipJ UPPER SHOTOVER. The Upper Shotover Gold Mining Company announces that 40.000 shilling shares, previously reserved, are on offer to shareholders in the proportion of a quarter of their holdings.
