MUNICIPAL THEFT.
WRONG READING OF METERS. HARD LABOUR FOR EMPLOYEE. (By Telegraph.—l'rcss Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. An employee of the municipal electricity department, Thomas James Gordon (32), married, admitted before Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., to-day the theft of £37 between April and October, 1933, through the manipulation of meter accounts. He was sentenced to one month's hard labour. The police stated that accused was guilty of incorrect reading of meters in 110 cases. Restitution had been made.
