The Samoan correspondent of the United Press Association, writing from Apia on October 10, says that the price of copra is down to £3 a ton to European planters, while natives are receiving less. Natives are not cutting copra on account of low prices. Cocoa is down to £35 a' ton, which leaves practically no margin to the planter.
Bananas are helping the situation to some extent, but greater benefit would be experienced if a largely-increased quantitycould be shipped.
