CANCER CONTROL.

PHYSICIST APPOINTED. . TRAVIS TRUST GENEROSITY. (By Telegraph.—.Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The central executive of the New Zealand branch of the Empire Cancer Campaign announced to-day the appointment of Dr. J. A. Strong as Travis radiological physicist. He is a graduate of Victoria College, and for the past year has been in charge of the radium emanation plant at Wellington Hospital. The appointment is made possible by the generosity cf the trustees of the Travis estate, in Christchurch, who made funds available to finance the post for three years.

The appointment represents an important step and places New Zealand in line with other countries in the scientific control of cancer. Two important weapons in the treatment of the disease are radium and deep X-rays. The physicist will visit Australia later in the year to confer with physicists engaged in similar work.
