RESERVE BANK.

POLITICAL CONTROL ISSUE. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE VIEW. The president of the Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand, Mr. A. M. Seaman, sent the following telegram to-day to the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance: — "The Press reports indicate the Government's intention to amend the Reserve Bank Bill to ensure control of the directorate. May I urge that this step is not wise. If the Government desires to secure commercial confidence in the institution, I would refer you to the warning against political control in the Niemeyer report, and direct your attention to the Associated Chambers of Commerce conference, which parsed a resolution deprecating possible political control or domination."
