CRUISER DIOMEDE.

EARLY RETURN FROM SOUTH. H.M.S. Diomede is expected to return to Auckland from the South next Tuesday afternoon or Wednesday morning, some time earlier than originally planned. The reason for -her early return is that her presence is required in Auckland in connection with official naval business. The cruiser's original programme provided for her return to Auckland on December 7.

The cruiser will proceed to the Devonport Naval Base and occupy the berth at present taken by the Admiralty tanker Nucula, which is to go to an anchorage in the stream on Monday morning.
