OBITUARY.

MR. ERNEST MOORE. A member of the staff of the Hawke's Bay Newspapers, Ltd., Mr. Ernest Moore, died on November 1, after a short illness. Born in Tasmania, Mr. Moore left New Zealand with the 13th Infantry Reinforcements, afterwards taking part in every engagement in which the New Zealanders on the Western Front had a share. His promotion from the rank of private to that of sergeant-major quickly followed, and later he was given his commission as a lieutenant.

Soon after his return from the war Mr. Moore joined the staff of the "Tribune," and had been a keen supporter of local golf and tennis activities. He was at the time of his death the treasurer of the Hastings Golf Club, and had also been a member of the Hastings Tennis Club. He was in addition a most enthusiastic and successful horticulturist, and a well-known exhibitor at Hastings shows.
