LIGHTNING VICTIM.

TARANAK! MAORI KILLED. WALKING ACROSS PADDOCK. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Thursday. A Maori named Wanau was struck dead by lightning in a paddock at Omata, four miles from New Plymouth, this evening. He was a married man with several children* Deceased was walking across a paddock with his son who, although only about Bft away from his father when the flash came, was unharmed. His father was killed, instantly. A brief thunderstorm followed a sunny and exceedingly hot day. Rain clouds quickly gathered and heavy rain fell, accompanied by lightning. Within an hour the evening was again perfect.
