TO BE EXPELLED.
Arrested British Journalist in Germany.
NO CAUSE FOR PROSECUTION,
(Received 1.30 p.m.) BERLIN, November 1. Mr. Noel Panter, the Munich correspondent of the London "Daily Telegraph," who was arrested on a charge of treason or espionage is to be released and expelled from Germany, the State Attorney's Department at Leipzig not seeing sufficient cause for prosecution, though considering his further stay in Germany undesirable. An earlier Berlin dispatch stated that Dr. Panter, brother of Mr. Panter, was permitted to see the latter in the gaol yesterday. He said afterwards that the prisoner was as cheerful as could be expected of a man confined in a cell 13ft long by 7ft wide. He was confident his brother would be released without trial. Mr. Panter said to his brother: "When they have gone through my papers they will be obliged to admit that my arrest was a mistake."
