WATER SUPPLY.
A "wonderful opportunity is open to Mr. Bloodworth to support a scheme that will establish the nucleus of a water board and the expenditure of some hundreds of thousands that will supply the population in an area that is too large to be economically supplied from any existing supply authority. The lack of vision by a few mJst not interfere ■with the completion of this gTeat southern water scheme, that will be capable of supplying Water at a price that will assist production and development. The power boards are an iexample of what can be accomplished in making a service available to town and country population. The present means of transport is assisting the population to settle in districts many miles from the waterfront. A pipe line coming through from the. Waikato to the Waitemata will solve the water problem and protect the city ratepayers from any further expenditure in the Waitakeres, at the same time providing a safe standby scheme from which they may draw to meet their increasing requirement at some future date. It may not be too much to expect that a business arrangement may be arrived at between the company and the city to secure a permanent interest in the undertaking that will be taken over by the districts free of cost at the expiration of the sinking fund period, as provided for in the bill.
