VITAL STATISTICS.
OCTOBER RETURNS,
Marriages in Auckland for the month of October totalled 173, of which 46 were performed by the registrar, as compared with 122 in, October of last year, of which 32 were performed by the registrar. The total number of marriages for the ten months. of this year is 1071, as compared with 1392 for the same period last year. Births numbering 252 show an increase of 37 over last October. This year there have been 2046 births, six less than for the corresponding period last year. Deaths during the month of October numbered 204, as against 134 for the previous October. The total deaths for this year's ten months is 1552, as compared with last year's 1602.
