The cow and heifer pens were well tilled. They also kept linn at last week's prices. Extra choice ox sold to 20/ per 1001b; choice and prime ox, 16/ to 18/; secondary and plain ox, 14/ to 15/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 18/ to 20/; ordinary cow beef, 13/ to 16/. Lambs. —Lambs came forward in large numbers and met with a brisk sale, with little or no alteration in the prices of last week's sale. A total of 420 lambs was yarded. Extra heavy prime lambs made £1 3/6 to £1 5/; heavy prime lambs, £1 2/ to £1 3/3; medium prime lambs, £1 to £1 1/6; light prime lambs, 18/ to 19/9; others, 15/9 to 16/9. Calves.—We had a full yarding of calves. Competition was less keen and values were slightly lower in the early stages of the sale. ' "Late sale" calves slumped and prices were considerably easier. Ruuners made £2 10/ to £3 13/; heavy vealer, £3 to £3 6/: medium, £2 8/ to £2 14/: light, £1 18/ to £2 5/; small, £1 to £1 7/; unfinished and bucket-fed. 8/ to 13/; bobby calves, 2/ to 7/. (A total of 2GS calves was sold.) Pigs.—There was an increased offering of fat pigs. Bidding was very steady for porkers and these realised fully late rates. Baconers were hardly in such keen request. Choppers made £1 5/ to £2 10/; heavy prime baconers. £2 18/ to £3 5/: medium baconers. £2 9/ to £2 12/; light, £2 to £2 5/; heavy porkers. £1 17/ to £2; medium. £1 14/ to £1 16/; light, £1 9/ to £1 13/; small, £1 6/ to £18./; good stores, £1 6/ to £1 10/; slips, £1 to £1 2/; good weaners, 16/ to 18/; smaller, 12/ to 14/; weedy and small, 7/ to 10/; sows, due to farrow, £1 10/ to £2 10/. (A total of 619 pigs was sold.) THE ADDINGTON MARKET. SHARP RISE IN SHEEP. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday. A sharp rise of 3/ in fat sheep values occurred at the double market at Addington to-day, the yarding being too small for requirements. Store Sheep.—A fair yarding met with a good clearance, but ewes and lambs and wether hoggets were cheaper. Values were: Good ewe hoggets (in the wool), to 20/6; ordinary (shorn), to 13/6; 6horn wethers, 8/ to 13/3; good ewes and lambs (all counted), 12/9 to 14/6; ordinary, 8/ to 11/; good shorn crossbred wethere, 13,'6 to 16/3. Fat Lambs. —The yarding of 900 was rather more than was required. The sale was firm at the start, but later eased. Values all round-were on a par with those of last week. The average was 7%d to B%d per lb. Values were: Extra prime heavy lambs, to 26/4; prime, 22/ to 24/6; medium weight, 19/ to 21/6; light, 10/ to 18/6. Fat Sheep.—The yarding of 5000 was too small for the double market. There was a sharp advance earlier in the sale, with a continued advance all through, the price over all being up 3/, and in some cases 5/ and more. The yarding was of fair quality, mostly from within the province. A few were sold in the wool. Values were: Extra prime heavy wethers, to 28/4; prime heavy, 21/ to 23/6; medium weight,. 18/6 to 20,6; ordinary, 16/ to 18/; light, 14/ to 15/6; extra prime heavy ewes, to 26/7; prime heavy, 20/6 to 22/6; medium weight, 17/6 to 20/; ordinary, 15/ to 17/6; light ewes, 12/6 to 14/6. Fat Cattle.—There was an entry of 595, practically all from the province. A few came forward from the West Coast, Southland, and Otago. The steers were of good quality, but too many cows of ordinary quality were yarded. Values for cows declined by 20/ to 30/. Best beef made 24/_to 27/ per 1091b; good. 20/ to 23/; heavy-weight, 17/6 to 20/; medium, 14/ to 10/6; rough, down to 12/. Fat Pigs.—A small entry of everything sold to a good demand. Pork was keenly wanted, and some was -purchased for export. Values were: Choppers. £2 to £4 18/6: baconers, 44''6 to 53 6; heavy, SS/6 to. £3 4/6: extra lieavv. £3 10/6; average price per lb, 4d to 4%d; porkers, 27/6 to 32/6: heavy, 36/6 to 42/6; average price per lb, 5d to s%ii.
