COLONIAL SUGARS FIRM

Business on the Auckland Stock Exchange over the last 24 hours has been fairly good, "with recent values well maintained. At this mornings call theie was a steady demand in the banking section. Commercials were asked for at 16/11, but holders had moved their reserves up to 17/3. New Zealands were steady, with buyers at £2 7/. In insurances bidders .for Nationals moved up to IS/ 7 without attracting holders, thus creating a new high level lor this scrip. , Buyers came in for btaples" Brewery, ottering £1 7/6. Colonial Sugars were very firm, and after a transaction at the new high level of £61 10/ there were buyers left in at £61 7/6. , , Farmers' Trading shares were wanted, with offers of 3/3 for the ordinaries, 12/9 for the A preferences, and 9/3 for the 13 Waihis were quoted cx dividend, with buyers at £1 5/2. . , In Government stocks buyers lor 4 per cents made the ivsual offers, but the 3/2 s were neglected. A parcel of Henderson Town Board 6 per ccnt debentures was on offer at £95. Steady Values at Noon. With values steady, moderate business was done at the nooi; call. Fertiliser shares were in demand, two issues sharing in the advance, and in the case of Dominions the rise was very marked, supported by later buyers' offers The improvement in New Zealand Refrigerating contributing shares may be attributed partly to the better tone of the wool market.
