EARLIER TO BED.
Among what is known as the smart set, London's hours of going to bed grow worse and worse. The tendency to rush away to one ,ot the road houses Surrey, Hertfordshire or Kent, and indulge *in midnight bathing, with breakfast of kippers or grilled kidney and bacon to follow, is very largely responsible. Afterwards, there is dancing in the restaurant or 011 the lawns outside, and the party very rarely breaks up before three "o'clock in the morning. This means that 110 one gets to bed before five o'clock —with little inclination either for business or pleasure for the remainder of the day. Toward the end of the reason several hostesses began to set their faces resolutely against this growing habit. When the little season opens there will, moreover, be less temptation to go outside London in search of an evening's entertainment.
